Generous vehicle donations get students motoring

Trafford College’s motor vehicle students are revved up about the arrival of fresh cars and vans every six months thanks to a new College Group partnership with KCVM Scrap Vehicles.

The generous donation from the Eccles-based rescue company means that students will be able to study a wider range of cars and vans at Trafford College’s motor vehicle and paint-spraying hub on Talbot Road in Stretford to expand their knowledge of breakdown and repair.

The first vehicles to arrive through the doors of the specialist centre this week, were a Ford Connect Transit van, Fiat Punto, Audi A3 and sporty Rover MGZT, all of which will support Trafford College students take their next step into future careers.

Programme Lead for Motor Vehicle at The Trafford College Group, David Spedding, said: “This is a fantastic partnership and we are really grateful to Chris and everyone at KCVM, the donation of these vehicles will allow learners to work on a whole range of makes and models throughout their time at the College and allow them to fully explore the different technologies and systems incorporated into today’s modern motor vehicles.”

The UK’s automotive sector is worth more than £78.9 billion in turnover in the UK economy, employing more than 864,000 across the wider industry.

The delivery will boost learners’ practical skills and knowledge across our range of vehicle maintenance and paint refinishing courses accredited by the Institute of the Motor Industry, from engine diagnostics, braking and suspension systems through to electrical, transmission and paint refinishing.

Director of KCVM Scrap Vehicles, Chris Robinson, said: “I’m more than happy to help out. If this goes towards helping get the College’s next generation of students get further on the road in their future careers, then I’ve done KCVM proud.”
