Top students celebrate Trafford College’s annual awards online
The outstanding achievements and successes of Trafford College’s students have been celebrated at a special online version of the FE Student Awards this year.
Students and their families eagerly waited in anticipation to log onto the ground-breaking virtual ceremony, which took place on Thursday 23rd July at 3pm, showing yet another way Trafford College is digitally forging ahead.
Assistant Principal Emma Goodlet and Director of Adult and Community Learning Joan Scott appeared on video to open the presentation of award-winners from each of the curriculum areas, some of whom have bravely battled against adversity to achieve success.
Two students in particular were celebrating after being selected from over 10,000 students across the College and individually honoured with Outstanding Achievement Awards.
Marnie Thornton and Imran Hossen scooped the coveted accolades for their dedication and commitment to their studies at the College’s Stretford and Altrincham campuses.
Marnie received recognition for her dedication to her Creative Media (TV & Film) course, on which she received the opportunity to achieve a British Film Institute silver award and graduate from the BBC’s ‘Get Into Media’ scheme.
Imran impressed the judges with the tenacity he showed in overcoming the challenges of speaking English as an additional language in class and remote
learning while moving between addresses to progress rapidly through his plumbing course.
College Group Principal Lesley Davies OBE said: “While we’re disappointed not to have been able to celebrate with everyone in person this year, it has been fantastic to recognise so many students for their talents. I am so very proud of them all.
“The achievements of the students are a testament to their hard work and determination and I’m sure they all have bright future to look forward to.”
