Trafford Hosts Student Conference
Trafford College holds its annual conference which revealed what learners across Trafford College really think about our services – and staff came top of the table.
More than 80 students met at Trafford College this term to talk to representatives from each of our departments, from the front facing student services through to our creative marketing team, about their perceptions of the college. How “helpful”, “friendly” and “caring” members of staff had been towards students during their studies really shone through in the feedback.
Head of Studies for Health, Social Care and Early Years, Lisa Radcliffe, received views from returning students that had been with the college for more than a year. Sharing the student feedback at the end of the day, she said, “Higher expectations have been set and higher aspirations; students have said it feels more inclusive for all.”
The Safeguarding Team revealed 100 per cent of learners who had accessed our internal counselling felt our service was accessible and more importantly approachable with 'a friendly face and nice person to talk to' – and would recommend the service to other students within the college. And a breakout group representing the teaching staff said they had been described as “helpful” and "knowledgeable", two characteristics that are ingrained in all our staff at Trafford College.
As with any open and honest feedback, students also provided their thoughts on the areas for improvement which included; making student support more accessible for adults, helping learners use software designed by the college to support learning, and to increase awareness of all the fantastic work experience placements and apprenticeships that are available.
