Trafford footballers have come second in the league following two games played back-to-back on the last match day of the 2018-2019 season.

Trafford College beat Burnley FC-affiliated Nelson & Colne College 2-1 and Coleg Cambria FC 2-1 at Stockport Woodley Sports Village to secure the runner-up trophy for the Category 3 League run by Association of College Sport for North West teams.

Sport Head of Studies, Damian Harris, said: “This is a fantastic achievement. The vast majority of the lads in the squad are due to come back next year too so we should have an even stronger team for the 19-20 season.”

Football coach Neil Mather runs football sessions for Trafford College Group. He has 30 years of national and international training experience, which includes coaching Manchester City Academy and Stockport County.

Neil said: “I’m very pleased and very proud of the lads. They are very dedicated.”
