Meet the star behind the scenes of Europe’s Fashion Weeks
Faye Bluff’s skills are regularly called upon by leaders in the fashion world to make over catwalk stars at London, Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks, thanks to her impressive experience with the likes of Chanel, Gucci and Burberry.
Faye aced Hair and Beauty qualifications in Make Up and Special Effects with distinctions, wowing special guests on campus in her final year charity fashion show with a make-up reveal of models’ tattoos, which gained the attention of leading brand NARS, which snapped up Faye for its books.
After establishing a strong reputation of working on fashion shows sponsored by NARS while gaining experience on its make up counters at Selfridges, Faye went freelance and became the go-to talent for high-profile make up teams, led by the likes of Pat McGrath, Terry Barber and Isamaya Ffrench, to create niche looks for some of the world’s leading fashion icons, such as supermodels Gigi and Bella Hadid, and Kaia Gerber.
Faye said: “I’ve never taken the skills I learned in College for granted. Without having learned the broad range of skills in make up and special effects, I definitely wouldn’t have been as equipped to have achieved the desired effects in texture and colour that are required at Fashion Weeks.
“College training gave me some excellent reference points, such as learning about make-up from different eras, for example. Gaining insights from tutors who also work in the industry means you are taught by the very best and helped me learn the importance of keeping up-to-date with the latest techniques used on film and TV.
“My advice to anyone starting out is to make the most of all the opportunities out there to improve and develop your skills. At the College you’re learning from well established make up artists working within the industry so make the most of your experience!”
