Campus film wins for first industry award

A star-studded film shot on campus and featuring our students has won its first industry award at the Manchester Lift-Off Film Festival.

The team behind 'Boiling Point', a short live action film directed by Philip Barantini, chose our award-winning Aspire Restaurant at the Altrincham Campus as the location for filming in December 2018. The film has won 'Best Short Live Action Narrative'.

Starring a celebrity cast with This Is England’s Stephen Graham appearing as the lead, Great British Menu finalist Ellis Barrie on the side lines acting as consultant, and Philip Barantini (Band of Brothers, Humans, Ned Kelly) directing.

Hospitality and Media Make Up students at Trafford College prepped for - and some starred – during the weekend of filming, which saw the arrival of actors from all over the North West.

The 18-rated film had its world premiere at Lift Off Festival in Manchester and has been submitted into several other film festivals including the Lift Off Festival in Los Angeles.
