Award-winning alumni comes back to college to recruit
An award-winning hairdresser who learned the trade at Trafford College has been so impressed with our teaching that he comes back to recruit his own staff.
Adam Fox studied Level 3 Hairdressing from Level 1 at Altrincham Campus before taking assessor exams to vet his own stylists. Northwich Fox Hairdressing salon proved so successful in its first year, staff went from two to 13.
Adam has gone on to be shortlisted for several awards, including regional finalist of the L’Oreal Colour Trophy for ten years in a row, winning once; coming runner up in an international competition with Vidal Sassoon Hairdresser Journal and scooping best front page for County Bride magazine. A top celebrity repeat customer is TV presenter and burns survivor Katie Piper.
“I knew when I visited the College that it was leagues apart from the others I had looked around in the area. The tutors are experts in their field and the qualifications are industry recognised, meaning I could take them anywhere,” he said.
“Since leaving college I have been well equipped with knowledge and experience of my craft. The tutors at Trafford College were amazing and I will always be thankful of what they did for me.
Adam was supported and guided by our tutors to enter competitions – opportunities we continue offer students every year.
“I loved that the tutors were inspiring and full of knowledge they would push you out of your comfort zone and guide you through to achieve great things. For that, I’m glad. I got the experience to get better each time.”
This year he has won English Hair and Beauty Awards: North West Salon of the Year and Overall Salon in the North.
Adam said: “My greatest achievement is bringing new blood into the industry using my qualification. What I learned at Trafford College is that education will always make the team stronger.”
