Course Overview

Whilst studying this course you will cover BHS Horse Knowledge, Care and Riding Stage 1 (in year 1) and Stage 2 (in year 2). These are essential and highly valued industry specific qualifications which are a component part of the British Horse Society Assistant Instructor Certificate (the benchmark for employers).During the course you will recieve extensive hands-on work experience at Carrington Riding Centre.

Qualifications you will gain: Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Horse Management (Level 3 Advanced Technical Certificate in Year 1, converting to a Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Year 2).

Course Requirements

Year 1 – 5 GCSEs at grades 9 – 4 including maths and English.

Some discretion can be applied with applicants over 19 with relevant experience. Previous skills and knowledge in horse riding/management are not essential, but a passion for working horses is. All applicants will require an interview.

A mix of practical assessment, internal exams, online exams, and written assignments

Progression

On completion of this qualification students can enter into Higher Education at University specialising in Equine. This qualification also gives you the knowledge and skills to go straight into employment.

This will include the studying of units such as:

Understanding and promoting animal health
Plan and monitor animal feeding
Prepare horses for presentation
Undertake stable and yard management
