Course Overview

This course introduces you to a variety of animal care methods and is designed to give you a real introduction into the animal care industry. You’ll be introduced to a range of small animals based at Carrington Riding School.

With lots of practical and work related skills sessions, you’ll learn the basics of feeding, handling and safely transporting animals.

For this Award, you must must complete a range of mandatory and optional units.

Assist with the care of small animals
Principles of preparing and feeding small animals
Assist with animal accommodation
Maintain the safety of self and others in the workplace
Ensuring small animal accommodation is suitable and clean
Provide controlled exercise opportunities for animals

This further education course is free for all 16-18 year olds who are resident in the UK and the European Economic Area for the last 3 years. (You must be under 19 on 31st August in the calendar year that you start your course).
