Course Overview

This course is designed to improve the career prospects of people with interests in the field of Science and Technology.

Areas of study include: Scientific Principles; Workplace Practices; Mathematics & Statistics for Science; Genetics & Genetic Engineering; Electric Circuits and their Applications; Role of a Science Technician; Human Physiology; Microbiology Techniques; ICT & Laboratory MIS; Chemical Laboratory Techniques; Laboratory Organisation; Application of Chemical Reactions; Industrial Application of Organic Chemistry

The suite of laboratories for work in this area includes:

Physics laboratory
Chemistry laboratory
Biology laboratory
Instrumental Analysis laboratory

Course Requirements

Year 1 – 5 GCSEs at grade 9 – 4 including maths, English and two science subjects

Year 2 – 5 GCSEs at grade 9 – 4 including maths, English and two science subjects plus a Level 3 subsidiary diploma in science with mainly merit/distinction grades.
