On this introductory course, you will learn the basic principles of science. You will be studying Biology, Chemistry and Physics by studying living systems and the universe through a range of scientific investigations. By using scientific equipment, observation, skills and techniques you will also learn about health, disease, growing plants and cosmetic testing. You will then be assessed on your skills and knowledge to complete the course.

You will learn the basics of science theory, activities and skills. This will be helpful to you if you want to learn more about science based subjects before studying at a higher level.
If you successfully complete this Level 1 course, you can progress onto the Level 2 Applied Science qualification.
You will need to show that you have improved your skills in English and maths, either through improving GCSE or Functional skills grades.
Assessment is by coursework assignments (including written and practical assignments, presentations, observations and special projects), you are required to work to deadlines for the completion of coursework through classroom based and independent study.
This further education course is free for all 16-18 year olds who are a resident in the UK and the European Economic Area or have been for the last 3 years. You must be under 19 years old on 31st August in the calendar year you start your course.
