Course Overview

On this course you will learn about the ways computing hardware and software are used in business by exploring different subject areas within computing that include: Information Technology Systems, Programming and App Development, Cyber Security, Networking and Cloud Storage, IT Technical Support. You will also learn about the business use of Social Media and Marketing as well as how project management is used in the planning and delivery of IT services.

Course Requirements

4 GCSE’s at Grade 4 or above (including maths and/or English Language).

What you will Learn

Students will study a combination of business-oriented and computing units.they will learn to use current technology in areas such as communications, Cloud Computing, web publishing, and IOT, to be able to analyse business problems and create effective solutions.

Assessment

You will undertake practical assessments in the form of internally assessed assignments as well as externally assessed tasks and written examinations.

Progression

Following this course, students are able to progress onto a HND or HNC, or go on to study at degree level, in an IT related area. This includes: Business Information Technology, IT Management, Information Systems, and more.

Career Options

With a degree in an IT related field, Career prospects could be working in the cyber security sector, or as a software engineer. For those who dont progess to higher education, entry level roles are available for web/content development, games design, programming and IT/business analysis support.
