Course Overview

This course will help you to develop both your skills and confidence in using British Sign Language.

As the weeks progress. you will learn how to use a range of signs and phrases around familiar social and work situations. This will include being able to sign numerical data, use clear hand signs and appropriate facial expressions.

By the end of the programme you will be able to watch and understand simple British Sign Language, ask and answer a range of questions as well as responding confidently to basic statements.

Ideally, learners should have undertaken an introductory to British Sign Language course.

This course can help to both improve your employment prospects and personal confidence.

For many, it will help to enhance job performance in their current role, especially if they are front line workers who are in contact with deaf people on a regular basis: local authority, care sector and retail.

Learners must complete three mandatory units in order to achieve the qualifications:

Productive Skills
Receptive Skills
Conversational Skills

Enrol onto further language or employment training. Staff will advise the most appropriate next step.

Learners will be asked to deliver two short presentations.

The Tuition fee for this course is £30.00 You may be eligible for a full fee remission if you are in receipt of certain benefits or earning less than £20,888 per annum (if residing within Greater Manchester)
