Course Overview

It is estimated that 22% of adults do not have sufficient digital skills for everyday life and work. This course will help learners improve their knowledge and confidence when working online. Area covered include:

Being able to connect and browse the internet
Being able to keep passwords secure and send e-mails securely
Understanding how social media works and how to participate on ZOOM, Microsoft Teams etc.
Accessing content across devices
Setting up accounts and buying safely online
Filling out forms and sharing information

All learners must take a short diagnostic assessment prior to starting their course to ensure they are on the correct level.

The new qualification will help improve the employment prospects of learners, help them with day to day online tasks and allow them to support their children’s learning.

The course is comprised of five mandatory units:

Using Devices and Handling Data
Creating and Editing
Communicating
Transacting
Being Safe and Responsible Online

Learners may wish to progress onto the Level 1 qualification in Essential Digital Skills or study from other IT User Skills programmes.

Learners will complete a short practical exercise and an online test.

This course is fully funded providing candidates are assessed as requiring the programme.
