Course Overview

This programme is the equivalent of three A-Levels, but without the added pressure of external exams. This is an exciting alternative to a traditional Level 3 programme, providing opportunities for employment in Travel & Tourism, or progression into higher education. It is also ideal for those that may wish to work within the travel and tourism industry who need specific vocational knowledge at this level for employment. Overseas and day visits linked to the curriculum each year. Past destinations have included Spain, Mallorca, Fuerteventura, Portugal and France. We also have extensive day visits including Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Chester Zoo and the Lake District. Destinations will vary each year.

Students will also undertake a 2 week industry placement. Previous placements have been at; Premier Inn, Manchester Museum, Holiday Inn Express, Manchester Airport, Travel Agents, Chill Factor and Eurocamp.

This course is also available as a one year option, equivalent to one or one & a half A-Levels. Please ask for details of alternative certificates available.

Course Requirements

4 GCSE’s at Grade 4 or above (including maths and/or English Language).

What you will Learn

During this advanced course, you will develop your awareness of the latest travel trends, both nationally and internationally, gain valuable work experience within the industry, understand the importance of marketing and responsible tourism, and discover what it takes to become a successful holiday representative.

Assessment

Students will be assessed using course work and role plays. The overall grade for the qualification is awarded to learners who successfully complete units.

Progression

On successful completion of the course it may be possible for students to apply directly for aviation employment, use the course towards further education here at Trafford College, progress to Higher Education at University or a Higher Apprenticeship.
