Course Overview

The course provides a balance between the practical and theoretical aspects of Beauty Therapy Studies, where you will research and discuss a range of beauty treatments and develop the essential skills of a therapist.
With expert guidance you will develop your practical beauty therapy skills to a high professional standard.
During practical lessons you will take part in a range of demonstrations, workshops, discussion, and research activities presenting and communicating your ideas through practical work and a portfolio of evidence. Theory classes will involve developing your knowledge through discussion and answering questions in preparation for written examinations.

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including maths and English.

Practical and creative skills will be developed alongside an in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology; this course will immerse you into the exciting world of customer service and beauty therapy treatments.

Working in beauty related industries
Follow health and safety in the salon
Client care and communication in beauty related industries
Provide facial skin care
Remove hair using waxing techniques
Provide manicure treatments
Provide pedicure treatments
Apply make-up
Provide eyelash and brow treatments
Create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector
Salon Reception

Progression to Level 3 Beauty Therapy or Level 3 Spa and Wellness Therapies on successful completion of the course.

You will be assessed continually throughout the course by practical assessments, research assignments, service treatment portfolio and final written end exams.

A minimum of 36 hours work experience which is integral to the course and is assessed as part of the practical element.
High attendance and punctuality is an expectation for the course and is essential to certification and progression.

This further education course is free for all 16-18 year olds who are resident in the UK and ther European Economic Area for the last 3 years. (You must be under 19 on the 31st August in the calendar year that you start your course).
