Course Overview
This course is designed to provide learners with the essential knowledge and skills required by vehicle body paint operators working on a wide range of vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and specialist paint businesses.
Leaners will study both the theoretic and practical aspects of the following areas:
Diagnosis and rectifying of paint faults and defects
Applying topcoats and completing refinishing
Colour mixing and matching
Leaners will also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in the body repair paint refinishing sector.
During the course all learners under the age of 19 are expected to undertake a work placement as part of their studies.

Course Skills & Benefits
Theory is delivered through a combination of classroom based sessions along with independent learning assessed through a number of written assignments.
The practical element of the course takes place in our fully equipped motor vehicle paintshop. Learners are required to provide their own safety footwear and protective overalls for these sessions.
A good understanding of the fundamentals of vehicle paint refinishing is essential for those wishing to undertake this course, in order to determine this, prospective candidates will need to undergo an interview with the course tutor.
Applicants with extensive prior experience of working in a paint refinishing role, who do not have a Level 2 qualification may undertake this Level 3 course, however, additional units will need to be completed to achieve the qualification.
