Nail Technology - Level 2 Award

Course Overview

The Level 2 Award in Nail Technology Treatments is a follow on qualification from the Award in Manicure qualification that will prepare you for a career as a nail technician. This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a nail technician including, units vovering the following: nail technology treatments, health and safety and client care and communication.

Course Requirements

Level 2 Award in Manicure
4 GCSE's at Grade 3 including English and/or maths. If you do not have these qualifications please discuss this with the Beauty Expert on your interview.

Course Skills & Benefits

You will get to work in a real beauty salon environment and working on real clients. You will be trained by our top Nail and Beauty experts; who have industry links and competition winners.
Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, client care and nail products and equipment. You will also develop a range of technical skills enabling you to prepare and enhance the nails and cuticles on the hands using different techniques. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.

Maintenance of nail enhancements
Soak off and restoration of the natural nail

What else could I do?

This qualification will prepare you for employment as a nail technician. You will also be eligible to join a professional association and gain insurance as a nail technician. Career opportunities an a nail technician exist in a variety of contexts, including:
Working in a commercial nail and beauty salon.
Working in a retail concession nail bar.
Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings.

Course Assessment

As part of this qualification you are required to produce a portfolio of evidence. A portfolio will confirm the knowledge, understanding and skills that you have learnt. It may be in a electronic or paper format.
Evidence in the portfolio may take the following forms:
- Observed work
- Witness statements
- Audio-visual media
- Evidence of prior learning of attainment
- Written questions
- Oral questions
- Assignments
- Case studies
