Level 3 Award in Education and Training

Course Overview

This programme is designed to follow the new national standards for Further and Higher Education. If you work as a trainer or want to begin teaching as a career this introductory course helps you to understand teaching methods, principles and skills required by the education sector. It is intended as a 'taster' and will provide you with a starting point if you wish to progress to a full teaching qualification.

Course Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements although it is usual to have a Level 3 qualification in your subject area. Additionally Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy qualifications are expected. Please note that the course will only run if a minimum number of students enrol.

Course Progression

You can progress onto the Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training, or you can follow the training career path and complete the CIPD Certificate in Training Practice. You can also work towards Assessor or IQA qualifications.

Course Finance

The Current fees for Academic year 2019/20 are £360.

Course Includes

On this programme you will study the following mandatory units:
• Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training
• Understanding and Using Inclusive Approaches in Education and Training
• Understanding Assessment in Education and Training

The course will run over 15 weeks (one 3-hour taught session per week).
There are usually two start dates per year, September and January on a Tuesday evening from 6.00-9.00pm.

You will be assessed by completing an online portfolio of your work. You will also complete a micro teach in a subject area of your choice during one of the classes.
There are 2 courses per year with the first taking place at our Altrincham Campus starting in September and the second course at our Stockport Campus starting in January.

Award

Upon successful completion of the course you will receive Pearson BTEC Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF).

Quality Assurance

QA systems are embedded throughout the College and the College is regulated by the Skills Funding Agency (SFA). The College is also routinely inspected by Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills).
