Course Overview

This programme is a taster course designed for those who may be volunteering in working as a teaching assistant. The course introduces students to the following topics:

The role of the teaching assistant
Behaviour management
Health and Safety when working with children
Policies and procedures
The National Curriculum
Individual Needs

It is advisable that Literacy and Numeracy L2 Certificate are achieved if you wish to progress.

Course Requirements

No formal entry qualifications required but an interest in working in a classroom with children 4-11 years.

Course Progression

If a school classroom placement is secured for a minimum of 12 hours per week then it may be possible to progress to a L2 Supporting Teaching and Learning programme.

Course Assessment

There is no formal assessment, however a portfolio of class activities and handouts and individual work is encouraged.

Course Finance

The course fees for academic year 19/20 are £100.00
