Healthcare Science T Level

Course Overview

T Levels are new courses which will follow GCSEs and will be equivalent to three A Levels that provides technical knowledge and practical skills specific to a learner's chosen industry or occupation. The core content for the T Level will cover topics such as working within the health and science sector, Health, Safety and environmental regulations in the health and science sector and managing information and data within the health and science sector together with good scientific and clinical practice including core science concepts.

The Healthcare Science specialism includes a range of skills statements around physiological measurements, specimen collection and transportation and processing and the clinical and physical engineering roles in healthcare science. This will include topics such as CLinical Bioinformatics, Life Science, Physical Sciences CLinical Engineering and Physiological Science.

Course Requirements

Minimum of 5 GCSEs including English Language, maths and science with a minumum grade of 5.

Mandatory Units

The core content for the T Level will cover the following areas:
Working within the health and science sector
Health
Safety and environmental regulations in the health and science sector
Managing information and data within the health and science sector
Good scientific and clinical practice
Core science concepts

Course Progression

Careers or Apprenticeships in the Healthcare Science industry.

Course Assessment

Coursework, exams and completion of a work placement.

Course Includes

The T Level in Healthcare is a two-year course which has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses, so that the content meets the needs of the industry and prepares students for work. T Levels will offer students a mixture of classroom learning and 'on-the-job' experience during an industry placement of at least 45 days. They will provide the knowledge and experience needed to open the door into skilled employment, further study or a higher apprenticeship.
