Course Overview

The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health Studies offers learners an exciting and challenging opportunity for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals who would like to gain an insight into the careers available to them in Health Studies.
The course runs over 2 years and is based at STEM centre, covering the following units:

Developing effective communication in Health & Social care
Health, Safety & Security in Health & Social Care
Anatomy & Physiology for Health & Social Care
Public Health
Physiological Disorders
Biochemistry for Health
Introduction to Microbiology for Health & Social Care
Communicable Diseases
Defence against Disease
Sociological Perspectives for Health & Social Care
Psychological perspectives for Health & Social Care

Course Requirements

5 GCSE’S grade 4/C or above including English, maths and science.

Course Skills & Benefits

Students are required to attend educational trips/exhibitions and guest speakers will be invited into college to enhance learning. Teachers on the course come from a wide range of professional backgrounds and have cast experience and knowledge of health studies. Successful completion of Year 1 subsidiary diploma will give you the opportunity to progress onto the Extended Diploma
Available to 16 years and above

Course Progression

Progression onto HE, gaining valuable UCAS points
Employment into the following roles following HE study:
Life Sciences, Physiological sciences, Clinical sciences, Cardiac sciences

Formative assessment throughout the programme

No external exams
