Graphic Design & Photography Level 2 First Certificate

Course Overview

This creative course is designed for students with an interest in Graphic Design and Photography and develops learner skills in creative ideas generation, drawing & visual communication as well as producing high quality finished designs for print and digital media.
Learners will explore photography techniques, graphic design and illustration techniques using 2D, 3D and digital media and materials. They will also explore the work of a range of artists and designers via classroom activity and visits to galleries, exhibitions, design studios, etc.
Students have access to a fully equipped Apple Macintosh computer suites, drawing tablets and high quality photographic equipment and facilities.

Course Requirements

4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and maths.

The ability to think creatively and generate ideas is also required.

Course Skills & Benefits

Students without an A to C/ 9-4 grade in maths or English will be expected to work towards these as part of the programme of study.

Course Progression

The course will prepare you for progression to one of our BTEC Level 3 creative pathways in Graphic Design or Photography, employment or apprenticeships in the creative industries.

Course Assessment

Units are tailored to suit the diverse range of skills required, and opportunities available, in the creative industries. All units are assessed through project based work or theory assignments and it is expected that students spend a significant amount of time on assessment projects as self-directed study outside College as well as within the timetabled lessons.

Course Finance

This further education course is free for all 16-18 year olds who are resident in the UK and ther European Economic Area for the last 3 years. (You must be under 19 on the 31st August in the calendar year that you start your course).
