ESOL Level 1

Course Overview

At Level 1 you will start to use English more fluently, as you continue to develop and build upon the skills you have gained at Entry Level 3. You will learn new skills in Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing English. You will be advised at the interview stage if this level is appropriate for you to study. Your course tutor will help you to continually improve your use of the English Language. There will be practical and theory lessons throughout the course to help develop your skills.

Course Requirements

As no formal qualifications are required, the tutors at Stockport College will interview you and carry out an initial assessment to see what skills you already have and then place you on the most appropriate level

Mandatory Units

Units include:

Level 1 Speaking and Listening.
Level 1 Reading.
Level 1 Writing.

Course Progression

Once you have successfully completed the qualification you can apply for a range of vocational programmes at Stockport College or go into employment.

Course Assessment

You will complete exams in:

Level 1 Speaking and Listening.
Level 1 Reading.
Level 1 Writing.

Course Finance

This further education course is free for all 16-18 year olds who are a resident in the UK and the European Economic Area or have been for the last 3 years. You must be under 19 years old on 31st August in the calendar year you start your course.
