Business - Accounting Pathway BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma

Course Overview

This course is for students who want to progress onto a Degree with a Business theme, a higher level apprenticeship or into employment within trainee management in Business.

Course Requirements

5 GCSEs at grades 9 - 4 plus English and maths at grade 4 or a BTEC First Diploma in a related subject (plus GCSE maths and English at grade 4) and a successful interview.

Mandatory Units

The course is unit based and includes 7 mandatory units which are:

1. Exploring Business
2. Developing a Marketing Campaign
3. Personal and Business Finance
4. Managing an Event
5. International Business
6. Principles of Management
7.Business Decision Making

Optional Units

There will be 6 additional units studied on the course over its 2 year duration:

Recrutiment and Selection
Recording Financial Transactions
Final Accounts for Public Limited Companies
Financial Statements for Specific Business
Cost and Management Accounting
Work Expereience in Business

Course Progression

This course is for students who want to progress onto a degree with a business and accounts theme, a higher level apprenticeship or into employment within trainee management accounts in Business. The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business and Accounting is equivalent to 3 A Levels for university entrance purposes.

Course Assessment

There is continual assessment for some of the units by vocational assignments leading to external quality assessment called National Standard Sampling.

Units 2, 3, 6 & 7 are assessed b y a nationally set exam.

Course Finance

This further education course is free for all 16-18 year olds who are resident in the UK and ther European Economic Area for the last 3 years. (You must be under 19 on the 31st August in the calendar year that you start your course).
