Art & Design Level 3 Extended Diploma

Course Overview

If you have already completed the Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design, this top up Extended Diploma will further develop your specialist skills in your chosen area (fine art, illustration, graphic design, textiles/fashion, 3D or photography), in readiness for higher level study or training. Throughout the year, you will develop a portfolio of art/design work to show your expertise in a specific discipline to assist your progress in house or externally onto HE programmes or related employment.

Course Requirements

You must have completed and passed our UAL Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design to be considered for a place on this specialist qualification.

Course Skills & Benefits

This one year Extended Diploma qualification (equivalent to one and a half A levels) completes a 180 Credit qualification (first year 90 Credit Diploma, plus this top up qualification) and on completion you will have the equivalent of 3 A levels, which will allow to progress onto Higher Education courses.

Mandatory Units

In addition to completing all nine units on the UAL Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design, you will be required to complete:

Characteristics and contexts in art and design
Preparation for progression in art and design
Engaging with an audience in art and design
Project proposal and realization in art and design

Optional Units

There are no optional units on this qualification.

Course Progression

A range of FdA or BA Design & Visual Art Degrees at Stockport College or other institutions or employment in the Visual Arts.

Course Assessment

Having completed Units 1-9 on the UAL Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design, you will be:

Internally assessed for Units 10, 11 and 12
Extenally assessed for Unit 13

Your work will be finally assessed (by the course team) and externally moderated (by the UAL examiners) at the end of the academic year against the assessment and grading criteria for those units.
