Course Overview

Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Educator consists of:
- EDEXCEL Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce

The aim of this qualification is to contribute to the skills, knowledge and overall performance of Childcare workers. It provides an insight into the principles of care and legislation of the Childcare sector and will aid career development.
This QCF competence-based qualification is designed for those people who:
- are involved in Childcare as their primary work activity
- are seeking a career in Childcare and wish to take the first steps towards professional qualifications
- wish to gain recognition of their skills and experience in the Childcare sector
The QCF structure allows for learners to add credits to their studies to build their competence and skill level.

Course Requirements

All prospective learners will be interviewed and complete a skills scan & initial assessment. You will need to be employed for at least 30 hours per week. You will need to have GCSE maths/English A* - C or Grade 4 to 9 and also complete functional skills ICT Level 2.

Successful learners may progress to a higher level.

Course Assessment

Competence based assessment by portfolio. The qualification consists of a minimum of 64 credits. 46 credits must be achieved from mandatory units. Unit selection: Mandatory: . Understand children's Early years education and development. . Implementing EYFS. . Diversity, Equality and inclusion. . Plan and provide effective teaching and learning. . Make accurate and productive use of assessment. . Develop effective and informed professional practice in Early years settings. . Promote the health, safety and well-being of children in Early years settings. . Child protection and safeguarding. . Partnership working in Early years. 18 credits must be achieved from optional units. Optional: Optional units chosen in discussion with your Assessor to ensure the assessment criteria can be achieved.
