Course Overview

An Access to Business course will provide you with a strong academic foundation in business studies, and can be your first step towards a university degree and a career in areas such as International Business, Tourism Management, Fashion & Retail Marketing and Event Management. Access to HE courses are specifically designed to prepare mature students for university level study. Through lectures and group work, you will be able to master key business and management principles, independent study, academic research and gain practical skills valued by employers and higher education institutions alike.

The Access to Higher Education Diploma Business - (Business & Management) will allow you to embark on a higher education degree. Not only will it offer you the freedom to follow a course of your choice, but it will also give you the knowledge to a confident start to your career in the business world.

Mandatory modules are below. Additional modules that you will complete on this programme are:
1. Business: Business Ethics, Business Finance and Planning, Business Ideas and Start-Ups, Business Organisations, Introduction to Marketing.
2. Management: Business Management Structures, Effective Meetings, Managing Change, Recruitment and Selection.
3. Law: Contract Law, Employment Law, Law of Tort,Business, Management and Law.

Course Requirements

The course requires you to have achieved GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above. The pathway will run subject to minimum numbers being reached.

Course Progression

Learners who successfully complete the Access to Higher Education Business qualification are guaranteed an offer to study a UA92 course in any subject area (unless subject to pre-requisites).

Course Assessment

Assessments include essays, practical reports, case studies, open or closed book examinations along with verbal, visual and/or IT-based presentations. All modules will include an element of time-constrained assessment which will contribute towards the final module grade.

Course Finance

The fees for the course are £3022. Fees are due at enrolment and an instalment plan is available. Once you have enrolled you are liable for the full year's fee, regardless of whether the full year is completed or not.

Learners aged 19+ may be eligible to take out an Advanced Learner Loan for the tuition fees (the registration fee cannot be included; this must be paid yourself).
For learners going on to successfully study a Degree then the amount for the Access to HE loan will be written off.
