Apprenticeships

How to Apply

How to Apply

Applying for an apprenticeship is different to applying for a full-time course. Think of it more like applying for a job, you will have to search apprenticeship vacancies, or approach a business yourself and go through an application process.

We’ve outlined the process below in three easy steps.

1

Find an Apprenticeship

View our live vacancies to start your journey to an apprenticeship. If you can't find an apprenticeship vacancy that suits you we also recommend approaching an employer that you are interested in and having them get in touch with our team.

2

Apply Online via GOV.UK

Once you've found an apprenticeship vacancy you're interested in follow the link to the GOV.UK site and sign up with an account. From there you'll be able to track your application and register for alerts for further vacancies.

3

Source Your Own Apprenticeship

Some employers do not currently take on apprentices, however it's a simple process for us to support the employer you have found to ensure they are ready for the next steps. Simply get your employer to get in touch with us and we'll take it from there.

General Entry Requirements

Entry requirements may vary, but all generally require that:

  • You’re 16 or over
  • You live in England and are not taking part in full-time education
  • You’ll be required to be in employment for at least 30 hours per week in your chosen profession

If your apprenticeship is in a trade, including construction or hair/beauty, then you may need to come into College one day a week. We have a team who may be able to help you secure employment.

As part of your apprenticeship framework, you’ll undertake functional skills in English and maths and in some cases, ICT.
