Higher Technical Qualification

What are Higher Technical Qualifications?

Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQ) are Level 4 and 5 qualifications such as HNDs and Foundation Degrees that sit between A and T Levels and Degrees.

HTQs have been approved against occupational standards in their sector, so you can get a head start in your career or further study.  They have been specifically developed with employers and businesses so you will get the skills they need, unlocking high-skilled and highly paid jobs.

What course is on offer at Trafford College?

We are offering a Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) in Computing from September 2022. You can find out more about our university-level Computing Department here.

Why should I study a Higher Technical Qualification?

HTQs are designed for anyone looking to upskill and gain a qualification, whether you’re already in employment or looking to retrain.  They’re also suitable for school leavers (18+) who are looking for an alternative to Degrees or Apprenticeships.

What can I do after?

As HTQs have been designed with employers to get you ready for work, after completing your HTQ you’ll be ready to jump straight into your chosen career.  There are also clear progression pathways to further, higher-level study options or degree apprenticeships for those who want to complete a degree.

How much will it cost?

If you choose to study a Higher Technical Qualification, you can fund it through either higher education student finance or an Advanced Learner Loan. If you are already employed, your employer may fund your HTQ for you.
